Collaboration with Nhi (@onehillion), Heymugi (@heymugi), and Sea Glass Lens (@seaglasslensmag) for the Nautilus Diaries edition of the Seaglass Lens Magazine,
a printed ocean inspired art book.
This piece playfully (or perhaps morbidly) references the ocean theme of Sea Glass Lens Magazine through sushi as my medium. Beyond the humor, however, it reflects my fascination with the comfort of childhood. In this work, I focused on thoughtfully designed bento box lunches as my object of nostalgia, and in doing so, I was compelled to add a message of gratitude to my mother—and all parents—who make childhood feel magical and whimsical. In keeping this piece authentic to myself and my heritage, I blended both Japanese and English: the two cultures and two languages that are crucial to who I am.
